District 14 is Fort Collins, with a bit of the outlying area to even out the population. Fort Collins was built as a military outpost in 1864, and the fort was decommissioned in 1868 after a large influx of settlers made the fort redundant. It is also home to Colorado State University, or CSU. CSU was founded in 1870 as the Agricultural College of Colorado, but admitted its first students in 1879 due to fundraising troubles and the subsequent transition from territory to state required reauthorization. It is now a large campus with nearly equal enrollment to the University of Colorado.
