District 5 is dominated by Colorado Springs, which makes up most of the population of the district. In addition, the district encompasses Chaffee, Lake, Park, Teller, and Fremont Counties. Colorado Springs is home to the USOC and Olympic Training Center. Rep. Lambourn won a contentious primary in 2006, after Rep. Hefley retired. The district is reliably Republican, and there are rumors that one of his primary candidates from 2006 will again challenge him in 2008.
