District 57 starts at the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain National Park and ends at the border with Utah. The district is a mix, considering the breadth of area that it covers. The eastern part has ski areas and Front Range tourism, while the western portion is more a mix of ranching and natural resources. A large controversy in this area is the Roan Plateau, which oil companies wish to extract natural gas and oil from. However, the area is currently wilderness, so a large debate has started.
