District 10 is one of three districts Boulder was split into, with this district containing the central portion of town, including the Pearl Street Mall and the University of Colorado. It also includes outlying areas of Boulder County, including Gunbarrel and Niwot. The University of Colorado was founded in 1876, the year of statehood, and has since grown into a world class university, with three Nobel Prize faculty in the past five years, all in physics.
